Blazers Acquire D-Man Hrbas from Edmonton

The Kamloops Blazers General Manager, Craig Bonner, announced today that they have acquired 18-year-old defenseman Marek Hrbas and the 27th overall pick in the 2011 CHL Import Draft from the Edmonton Oil Kings in exchange for the 18th overall pick in the 2011 CHL Import Draft and the Blazers’ 5th round pick in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft.

Hrbas, from Plzen, Czech Republic, played 64 games with the Oil Kings last season scoring 5 goals, 12 assists for 17 points last season. Last season was his first in the WHL after spending the 2009-10 season with the Fargo Force of the USHL.


“We are pleased to add another puck-moving defenseman to our hockey club,” said General Manager, Craig Bonner. “This move solidifies one of our two import spots with a player who has played in North America for the past two years.”


The Blazers will now be selecting at 10:20am/PT in the 2011 CHL Import Draft which is on Wednesday, June 29th.
