Kamloops, BC – The Kamloops Blazers will have three prospects at the 2011 Under 16 Canada Winter Games in Halifax from February 10th-18th.
Forward Matthew Needham and defenseman Joshua Connolly will both play for Team BC at the event and Cole Ully will suit up for Team Alberta. All three players were selected by the Blazers in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft.
Needham, chosen in the 1st round, 8th overall, is playing with the Okanagan Hockey Academy Midget Prep team. He has 11 goals and 15 assists for 26 points in 22 games this season. The 15-year-old also has played in 2 games with the Blazers this season and recorded a goal in his second game.
Connolly was selected in the 3rd round of the WHL Bantam Draft. He has had a terrific season with the Cariboo Cougars of the BC Major Midget League with 6 goals, 18 assists and 24 points in 22 games. The native of Prince George is currently leading the league in defenseman scoring.
Ully was picked up in the 2nd round of the draft. He is playing with the Calgary Flames of the Alberta Midget Hockey League. The 15-year-old Calgary native is leading his team in scoring this season with 11 goals and 8 assists for 19 points in 20 games.
