Blazers Host Seattle

The Blazers will try to find their footing on home ice tonight against the Seattle Thunderbirds.

The T-Birds are coming off a 2-0 loss on home ice last night to Prince George. It marked the first time in eight games they didn't pick up at least one point. They now sit 5-3-1-2 on the season.

Seattle games have been typically low scoring this season. In 11 games they've surrendered only 31 goals but have only scored 31.

They have an exciting draft eligible prospect in F Colin Jacobs and I think grabbed a couple of key 20 year-olds from the Saskatoon Blades to begin the year in F Travis Toomey and F Burke Gallimore.

In goal, it's Calvin Pickard. The 18 year-old is a good one. He's played every minute of every game so far.

We're on the air at 6:30pm, play-by-play at 7pm.

Former Blazer goaltender Kurtis Mucha will join us for "Hockey Talk" in the intermission.
The former five year WHL'er who spent the majority of this time in Portland is now at the University of Alberta. They play host to the Calgary Dinos tonight.
Mucha just missed the boat in Portland as the Winterhawks have built themselves up from the doldrums of the Western Conference.
The 'tender talks about that, plus his goal of still playing pro eventually...possibly in Europe.

I was happy to record a greeting for Rebels voice Cam Moon. Mooner called his 1000th game last night in the booth.

I caught a bit of his broadcast via webcast. Good stuff Mooner...

Regan Bartel caught up with Nino Niederreiter in Portland last night. He posted his interview on his blog. The link is over on the right...
