Guggy Gets the Nod / Broncos Game Likely Changed

Broncos Goaltender Mark Guggenberger is the WHL's nominee for the ADT CHL Goaltender of the Week award.

In two starts last week, Guggenberger was 2-0 with a GAA of 1.00 and a .966 save %.

Guggenberger was a big part of the Broncos 4-1 road win in Saskatoon and then weathered an early barrage from the Warriors Saturday night to help his team to a 3-1 win.

The Broncos goaltending situation couldn't be more solid right now.

------------

Let's just play Sunday.

I know some fans are hoping the Broncos don't cater to the Regina Pats agenda of moving Saturday's contest at the Brandt Center to Sunday but it makes sense.

Sure it's a bit of an inconvenience for the Broncos (who play in Brandon Friday night and wanted to catch the Pats on the way home Saturday), but both sides are working towards an agreement.

It appears the game will be played Sunday evening with a 6pm start-time but some of the travel logistics and practice ice-time need to be worked out. As well the Pats would more than likely have to compensate the Broncos for any extra expenses.

Personally, I would love to take in the Riders game Saturday and make it a super sports weekend. Matter of fact, I have my Rider tickets already and the day is planned... just waiting now on the official game change announcement.

As the Broncos play-by-play broadcaster, it takes a lot of things to line up properly in order to take in a CFL playoff game during the WHL season. So far it's looking like things might work out but we'll wait and see.

I'm just hoping I have a little bit of a voice left for the hockey broadcast the day after. Plus it's going to be cold. Friday's daytime high in Regina is -6.

More later,

Jon
