Broncos Release Import Jokel

Press Release:

The Swift Current Broncos have re-assigned forward Oliver Jokel back to his Junior team in his hometown of Kosice, Slovakia.

Jokel appeared in 14 games for the Broncos this season after being selected in the CHL import draft this past off-season.

Sadly, Oliver Jokel didn't work out for the Broncos as he went pointless in 14 games. The Broncos adding F Matt Ius also meant someone had to be heading out.

Barring a trade, the Broncos will go with one import forward of the allowed two. However, 18 year-old forward Jan Dalecky remains out with a concussion. He could be back next weekend if all goes planned.

It's been tough for the Broncos over the years to have two impact European players on their roster at the same time. That's the case around the league for the most part. More and more, a proposed one European player and four over-agers (20 year-olds) for next season is making a lot more sense for a team like the Broncos. It seems to be something that would favour some of the smaller markets across the CHL.

Time will tell if it's something that is adopted by the CHL or is left on the cutting room floor.
