Are You Kidding Me?

I think the common catch phrase applies here following another dramatic Broncos victory, this time a 4-3 shootout win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

For the 2nd straight game, the Broncos tied things up in the last 10 seconds - last night it was David Stieler's turn. His goal with the 'tender pulled and with 8 seconds remaining helped the Broncos pull out two points. Again, they found a way to win instead of last year's theme of "finding a way to lose".

Don't look now, but the Broncos now trail Brandon by two points for the division lead. At what point it was a 9 point gap.

Boy, was it quiet at the Chinook Library . . . er, Civic Center last night until the last minute of the game. You could hear the buzz of the lights over the sparse crowd at times . . . where is everybody?? I would like to hear from you on this one. Why are the crowds down this season? Your thoughts. Kudos, to those in attendance who started making some noise for the final minute as the Broncos came out of the time-out looking for that tying goal. Again, somehow they did it.

The Broncos are now 3-0 in shootouts this season - a far cry from last year's struggles. Last year, I disliked the shootout with a passion, now I love it! Winning can do that I guess, I'm on the shootout bandwagon! That is, until we lose.

Dale Wiese was a physical force as he bashed some bodies early in the game including a steam cleaning of Yashar Farmanara. Heads up Yash! He also had a goal and two assists and was named the games 1st star.

Kyle Bortis was firmly planted in the middle of the bench for the third period. The coaching staff taking some exception to how he was playing last night. Kyle was playing with the full face-shield after taking a puck to the face in practice. In my opinion, he was concerned about taking a shot to the same area and seemed to avoid the dirty areas last night.

Anyone else notice how much better Grant Toulmin is looking lately. The last two games he's never seen more ice-time.

How 'bout the Blades? They snap a 9 game losing skid with a 6-1 thrashing of Moose Jaw last night. The Blades connecting on four powerplay goals. The Broncos host the Blades tomorrow night.

Two games 'till the Christmas break. I may be looking more forward to the time-off than some of the players.

More to come . . . later. For now, back to my real job. Another early morning here in radioland,

Thanks for visiting,
Jon

Jon great game by the guys again, Shows how much heart this team has. Look out Brandon. Jon what is it with these crowds? We have to come up with some good market ideas. Here is one pick a few hotties & have a draw every game for one lucky guy to sit in a hot tub with the gals.We have to start getting people to the rink! I think its time we went door to door to see why people are not attending these games. I know people are busy, but i do know there are alot of hockey dads you never see at the rink.Wake up Swift Current & start supporting this team. Do people want SJHL again? If the CCC is not packed fri night at $12.00 a pop, i think then we know it don't matter what the market guys do people in swift just do not want WHL hockey in this city.

It's a big disgrace and embarrassment to see under 1600 people attend games. Something major needs to happen with the attendance pretty quick! People in our city are too friggin' cheap, that's all. Kudos to the guys, anyway! GREAT EFFORT!
